If you have a potluck to go to soon but are on a clean eating diet, it can prove to be a little different. However, contrary to what you might be thinking, you are not forced to just eat fruit and veggies, with nothing else. Take a look at these healthy, clean eating potluck and BBQ foods you can bring.
The first option available to you if you are going to a BBQ while clean eating is to have chicken fajitas. You can bring this dish yourself so that you know you have something really yummy to make, but sometimes all the necessary ingredients are already being grilled. Since you are clean eating, you will skip the tortillas and maybe the cheese and sour cream, but you don’t need it! Instead, combine some grilled chicken that is cut into strips with grilled veggies like bell peppers and onions. If you can find salsa, add that, or just some sour cream. Guacamole should also be included in your clean eating diet.
Kale or Carrot Chips
Are you concerned that there won’t be any snacks or appetizers at the BBQ you can enjoy? If so, bring along some vegetable chips you bake yourself. These will be approved by your clean eating diet, and let you enjoy snacks with some clean eating dips like guacamole. Most vegetables just need to be tossed with garlic oil, salt, and pepper and then baked in the oven until crisp. They are super easy to make and much healthier for you.
Spinach, Artichoke and Avocado Dip
As far as dips are concerned, you can make your own and bring it with you, really impressing everyone at the BBQ. Start with spinach and artichoke, then unlike a traditional dip, skip the sour cream and cheese. Instead, you can use mashed, ripe avocado. This will be creamy enough to replace the cheese, plus bulk up your dip and make it delicious enough for everyone to eat. Trust me, you will run out before the day is over.
Spiralized Veggie Salad
You can’t eat a regular pasta salad side dish as a potluck or BBQ< but you can still have something similar. Instead of using pasta noodles, spiralize some zucchini or other veggies for the noodles. These zoodles can then be tossed with olive oil and seasonings. At this point, it is your choice what else to add, like other veggies to make it even healthier.
