Gas Giant Games is a new video game studio created due to a collaboration between two well-known developers working on the Diablo series and other AAA game developers.
Gas Giant Games is the name of a new game firm founded by two ex-developers from Blizzard who are most well-known for their work on the Diablo series. Although the new game studio has not disclosed what game will serve as its flagship title, its team comprises former employees from Blizzard, BioWare, Epic Games, and other companies.
Gas Giant Games is a new development studio Jay Wilson and Julian Love established. Wilson, who was also involved in the development of World of Warcraft and Overwatch before he departed from Blizzard in 2016, was the contentious primary designer of Diablo 3 and later served as the game’s director. Before leaving Blizzard in 2021, Love was the senior combat designer for Diablo Immortal and Diablo 4. He was the lead technical artist for Diablo 3, the main special effects artist for the Diablo franchise, and the lead technical artist for Diablo 3.
Dan Kelly, a former senior vice president of business and development at THQ and director for Disney, is the company’s chairman. Wilson and Love, respectively, act as the design and creative directors, joined by chairman Dan Kelly. The new game studio is expanding quickly and employs professional game developers who have produced AAA games for Blizzard and several other major game publishers.

The first project from Gas Giant Games is still a secret. In a private demonstration at the Game Developers Conference in late March, a select number of publishers and investors will receive their first glimpse of the game, according to its initial press release. Gas Giant Gaming still needs to prepare to provide specifics. However, Wilson clarified that the title would be a role-playing action game featuring brutal combat, compelling growth, and a distinctive survival experience. Although it also considers mobile platforms, the firm is now working on its first project for PC and consoles.
This is not the first video game firm to be founded by former employees of Blizzard. Numerous new companies have been founded in recent years, including Dreamhaven, Lightforge Games, and Notorious Studios. Another company with a similar name, Frost Giant Studios, is working on an RTS game called Stormgate that aims to be StarCraft’s spiritual successor. Blizzard fans may soon find multiple games created by well-known developers inspired by their preferred AAA titles, as Gas Giant Games is likely to be significantly impacted by Diablo.
